Letting Go of What People Think

Releasing our grip on what other people think is a fast way to experience true freedom

What if you could wake up tomorrow and do exactly what you want to do, exactly where you want to do it, with exactly who you want to surround yourself with?

Well, the answer is you can!

The problem is that we think that maybe it’s “too good to be true” or that it’s available only for “those people”, and the answer is that those are just a set of beliefs that might just be standing between you and the life you really want!

The biggest thing that gets in the way of us doing what we really want to do, is the fear of what other people might think of us.

Of course this is a very primal response, as a few hundred years ago we would be nothing short of dead if we were disapproved of by our tribe and left to fend for ourselves.

The reality of it today is that people don’t care nearly as much as we think they do!

Yes, they might gossip or send you a malicious message, but that’s just a reflection of them and some inner struggles that they might be dealing with. There’s a good chance that it’s a matter of jealousy or envy, long story short it is easiest to just say “thanks for your input” and keep moving along.

Ask yourself this:

“What would I be doing if I didn’t care what other people were going to think of me?”

Tune into this episode of the Alignment Club Podcast for a quick pick-me-up about letting go of what other people are going to say about how you choose to live your life!

Alignment vs. Grinding

Aligning yourself with where it is you want to go by questioning and removing the beliefs that are keeping you from getting there

It is amazing how many of us are blindly working our tails off, doing our best to make sure we’re busy, without taking the time to really make sure we’re in alignment with who we are and where we want to go.

Aimlessly working hard for the sake of working hard will definitely make you tired, but without a grand picture of where you’re aiming, sometimes it is easy to get caught up doing small tasks for the sake of feeling productive. Sometimes the most productive thing we can do is to do nothing other than question the beliefs we are still holding onto.

In this episode of the Alignment Club Podcast, we discuss the art of taking time to align yourself with your goals, dreams and aspirations before taking massive action. This is the fastest, most simplistic way to get the results you want in a manner that will not bring you into complete exhaustion.

Life Driving you Crazy? How to find Inner Peace

Wiring yourself to be at peace will rapidly improve the quality of your life

Happiness, peace, joy and fulfilment. These are likely four of the most sought-after feelings that drive human behaviour, and they are things we are trained to look for outside of ourself.

In this episode of the Alignment Club Podcast, we discuss the beauty of finding peace within yourself, regardless the situation. We cannot control what life gives to us, but we are always able to control the way in which we do or don’t react.

Nothing has the power to influence the way that we feel until we give it permission. People will cut us off in traffic, look down upon our vocations, tell us are wasting our time, criticize the way we do things; these are reflections of them, not us.

When there is an inner wound that has not been healed, it will be manifested in physical form by lashing out at others or trying to cut them down.

Don’t take things personally, stay in your own lane and thank every person or situation that comes against you as a reminder that you are in control of your life and how you want it to unfold.

A Simple Habit for Ending your day in Gratitude

A bedtime gratitude exercise that everybody has time for

In the famous book The Science of Getting Rich by Wallace D. Wattles, he explains that “many people who order their lives rightly in all other ways are kept in poverty by their lack of gratitude.”

Being grateful for what we do have makes us a channel for more good to flow into our life. When we disregard all of the things working in our favour, even if they are disguised as difficulties, we seem to continually attract more struggle into our lives.

A powerful way to close out your day is this incredibly simple exercise that not only opens your eyes to the good in your life, but also forces your subconscious mind to continue scanning for more things to be grateful for.

When we are grateful, we are not in fear.

Closing out your day in a thankful manner

Grab a journal or a blank piece of paper and write today’s date at the top of the page. Next, write the following sentence:

“My three favourite parts about today were…”

Even if you felt like you had the worst day in existence, they could be as simple as “I woke up and said hi to my spouse, my coffee machine worked another day, I was able to put food on my table once again”

Even on the most difficult of days, being grateful puts you in a place of more than enough, and in short time you will continue to be met with more situations in alignment with abundance.

It’s that simple, and when you wake up tomorrow you can watch this video to start you day the same way!

Stepping into the Flow of Life

Are you swimming with the current, or trying your best to fight against it?

Getting into the flow of life is a topic that some people will feel a great deal of resistance to. This idea is often perceived as “giving up” or “doing nothing”. While it may be easy to judge this concept, it goes much deeper than the idea of giving up and becoming stagnant.

I am sure you have heard the term “go with the flow”, this is something my mom used to repeat to me constantly as a child. A great deal of years later, I am finally figuring out what it means.

Getting into the flow of life, means surrendering to a force greater than yourself, and capitalizing on the opportunities that are in alignment with your values and desires along the way.

Clarity is Power.

Living a life of surrender, as Michael A. Singer calls it in his groundbreaking book The Surrender Experiment, means taking what life gives you and pursuing it to the greatest of your abilities. Oftentimes it is the ego that has a very difficult time with the idea of letting go of control.

The first step in living a life in which you align with what you want, and take action on the opportunities that are also in alignment with what you want, is offering clarity, on some level, about whatever life situation it is you would like.

The main reason for succumbing to “shiny object syndrome”, or feeling generally scattered or lost, is due to a lack of knowing which direction it is one wants to aim.

If you don’t know where you’re going, you might not like where you end up is a powerful and relative quote in the process of conspiring with a power beyond yourself to create a new life scenario.

Offer a Clear Intention of what you want.

Being able to offer the intention, then saying “I now turn this desire over to something greater than myself to help me create this in the fastest, most effortless way possible.”

Sometimes you will be given circumstances in which you feel like you are being given the short end of the stick, though this is often a sign that you need to learn, or let go of something.

For example, if someone says they want to become a millionaire, then can’t figure out why they get laid off from their current job position, maybe this is the perfect first step in learning how to increase their income in assisting them to fulfill their goal?

Many of these “coincidences” receive little to no credit, but when you live from a place of deep inner knowingness that life is always happening for you, not to you, you begin to harness a power that is much greater than yourself.

We often hear of the Law of Attraction, which states “that which is like unto itself is drawn”. As you continue to offer the intention of what it is that you want in your life, and continue to take action when you are given and opportunity, you will see over and over again that life is truly conspiring in your favour.

Are you Playing to Win?

An important question to ask yourself in pursuit of that which you desire, is whether you are playing to win or playing not to lose

One of the most paralyzing mistakes I have made along the way is getting caught up in something called “playing not to lose”. Playing not to lose is when you take all the actions that make you look busy, but really you are running on the hamster wheel and truly getting nowhere.

Playing not to lose, as T.Harv Eker notes, is like playing a game of hockey with six goalies. Playing not to lose is when you refuse to take risks because you do not trust that everything always works out. Playing not to lose is not allowing yourself to open up because you’ve become extremely comfortable in your current situation; even if you know it’s not sustainable.

Playing to win, on the other hand, is playing full out. Playing to win is allowing yourself to take risks, it’s allowing yourself to step into the unknown, it’s allowing yourself to do bold things while carrying a deep sense of knowing that every time you leap, a safety net will appear for you.

I once read a quote that read “it is hard to get an A while you’re scared of getting an F”.

This ties in perfectly to the theme of playing to win vs. playing not to lose. Ask yourself, at the end of the day, “what do I really have to be afraid of?”

The answer is nothing. The ego loves to come up with things be fearful of, reasons why we shouldn’t trust ourselves, reasons why we should avoid any and all potential pain while staying buried within our comfort zones.

As fun as it sounds, it is going to lead to a gnawing feeling of wanting to do more with your life, until you allow the inner voice to come through and do the thing that you really want to be doing.

Make today amazing, do something you wouldn’t normally do, open yourself to new and creative ways of living while trusting that every time you make a leap, you are fully and completely taken care of.

Doing Things that Scare You

As your comfort zone begins to expand, bit by bit your life becomes filled with more excitement and joy

At one point or another, we all feel the feelings of stagnation, even boredom with our current circumstances. This doesn’t mean we don’t have plenty to be thankful for in any given moment, it just means that maybe we are starting to feel too much comfort or repetition in our daily actions.

What’s one way to break this pattern, create new results and condition yourself to become more resilient? Simply by doing things that freak you out a bit.

When we are (and we never should have valid reason to be) bored, it is often because we have dug ourselves so deep into our comfort zone that we don’t feel like doing anything outside of it.

If you are reading this thinking about how boring your day is going to be today, why don’t you go ask a random person if they want to go for coffee with you? Or email your boss telling him that you quit and aren’t going to be coming in tomorrow, or ever?

Surely these things would cure boredom, yes? Of course they would, but the reason we don’t do them is because we like taking action that is measurable and somewhat within our zone of safety.

This is the cool part:

What happens next after you decide to announce your business, ask the person on a date, apply for the new position, or book the plane ticket?

Not much, aside from a small, medium or large rush of excitement accompanied by a sense of “I can’t believe I just did that!”

The world keeps turning, maybe you pull your first client on the first day or someone messages you and says “I honestly don’t know why you waited so long, you’re so talented”. Maybe your boss replies with an absolute no, or an absolute yes to your request to work remotely for a year.

Regardless of the answer, who cares? You did the thing that scares you, and now you could go back to do it again without it feeling so terrifying.

Take a moment, ask yourself to come up with five things that would be so terrifying to get started on today, then pick one and simply go for it.

When you start using fear as a go-signal rather than a stop light, life becomes exhilarating.
