What You Focus on Expands

There is a great quote that reads like this: When you change the way you look at things, the things you look at change.

Think about this for a moment. When you change the way you look at things, the things you look at change.

What does this even mean?

It means that it is not our outer circumstance that shapes the way we think, feel, act and ultimately live, though it is our perception of these outer circumstances and the lens which we filter them through.

In the Culture of More, we get stuck in a place of dissatisfaction, as soon as one goal is reached we are immediately onto the next one without taking time to celebrate what just took place.

If your focus is always coming from a place of “I need this and then life will be perfect”, the proverbial carrot on the stick will always be just a few inches further.

When we take the time to place our focus on what we do have, what we do have will begin to expand. When we look at situations that may be perceived as misfortune, we can also look at them and appreciate the gifts, lessons and messages that live beneath them.

But if I’m just focusing on what I do have right now, I’ll never reach my goals!”

What if it were the opposite? What if focusing on what you are fortunate enough to have right now just made you a magnet to create more good things in your life?

Regardless of what the day brings today, take just a few moments here and there to appreciate something that maybe you’ve gotten “used to” over the years. This could be someone in your family, your house, your vehicle, the clothes in your closet, the fact that we can breathe clean oxygen and drink clean water, the food in your fridge. Anything.

Because when you change the way you look at things, the things you look at change.

Doing More of What You Want

Want to know what’s really fun? Doing what you like to do as often as possible

Why do we feel such a stigma around doing that which we truly want to do? Maybe because we feel like we won’t be accepted, we won’t be liked, people will think we have our head in the clouds.

Do you notice the theme?

The theme is that we often don’t do what we want to do because we are always worried about what other people are going to think. Imagine letting go of that? Imagine living free of every worrying what others were going to say about you?

In this episode of the Alignment Club Podcast, we discuss freeing yourself of these limitations, especially around money, and doing more of what you want to do.

Alignment vs. Grinding

Aligning yourself with where it is you want to go by questioning and removing the beliefs that are keeping you from getting there

It is amazing how many of us are blindly working our tails off, doing our best to make sure we’re busy, without taking the time to really make sure we’re in alignment with who we are and where we want to go.

Aimlessly working hard for the sake of working hard will definitely make you tired, but without a grand picture of where you’re aiming, sometimes it is easy to get caught up doing small tasks for the sake of feeling productive. Sometimes the most productive thing we can do is to do nothing other than question the beliefs we are still holding onto.

In this episode of the Alignment Club Podcast, we discuss the art of taking time to align yourself with your goals, dreams and aspirations before taking massive action. This is the fastest, most simplistic way to get the results you want in a manner that will not bring you into complete exhaustion.

A Quick, Powerful Money Affirmation

A mantra for attracting more of what you want, and less of what you fear

MONEY! What is the first thing that pops into your head when you think about it? Is it thoughts of joy and excitement, or thoughts of fear and despair as it always seems to slip right through your fingertips?

Oftentimes what holds us back from making the money we want is an internal conflict, an underlying part of our subconscious patterns that is resistant to the idea of having money.

This is what leads to self-sabotaging behaviour such as overspending, as there is a part of you that is so scared to lose it that your focus eventually gets locked in on playing not to lose vs. playing to win.

Affirmations can be great, if the little man in your brain that sorts your thoughts believes them to be true.

Sometimes we will say an affirmation that will reach the little man and he will say “hah, I knew you thought you were going to get further than this but unfortunately this statement doesn’t align with what I believe on a cellular level; therefore your request for entry into the mind has been denied”

However, sometimes we come across an affirmation that stirs just enough powerful positive emotion that we actually feel good repeating it! This is one for you to either use during an EFT session, or simply to repeat to yourself throughout the day or week:

“Money flows to me and through me, for the greatest good of all”

Someone please correct me if that has been originated by someone else, it was something that popped up during a tapping session recently and seemed to truly resonate.

And on that note, I will say that Alignment Club Transformative Coaching is officially open for business! If you’re in a place in your life that feels uncomfortable, or know there’s another level but you aren’t sure how to get there, let’s work together on removing the unconscious blocks that are holding you back and begin creating a new life of authentic abundance!

Have a great week,

Using EFT Tapping to Create a Better Life

Is it possible to cultivate happiness, remove unconscious blockages and even heal physical pain through tapping? The answer is yes.

Originating from ancient Chinese acupuncture methods, EFT (Emotional Freedom Technique) was founded by Gary Craig in 1995. “Tapping” refers to using your fingers to tap on various meridian points that allow energy to flow and travel through our bodies.

What happens when we become stressed, frustrated, blocked from what we want, or flat-out “stuck”? This happens because there is a blockage in your body’s energy system.

Tapping has been endorsed by world-renowned speakers, authors and coaches such as Wayne Dyer, Louise Hay and Tony Robbins, and for good reason.

Tapping accesses the emotions that are often lying beneath the surface of an external problem, and allows us to bring them to the surface. The more we suppress what it is that is bothering us, the more resistance we create in our bodies.

For every issue, there is often an underlying emotional issue that has not yet been dealt with. In order to free ourselves from the emotion, we first must recognize it and discover what it is. Though this can feel scary, it is not as scary as living with an internal conflict for the rest of your life.

Life Driving you Crazy? How to find Inner Peace

Wiring yourself to be at peace will rapidly improve the quality of your life

Happiness, peace, joy and fulfilment. These are likely four of the most sought-after feelings that drive human behaviour, and they are things we are trained to look for outside of ourself.

In this episode of the Alignment Club Podcast, we discuss the beauty of finding peace within yourself, regardless the situation. We cannot control what life gives to us, but we are always able to control the way in which we do or don’t react.

Nothing has the power to influence the way that we feel until we give it permission. People will cut us off in traffic, look down upon our vocations, tell us are wasting our time, criticize the way we do things; these are reflections of them, not us.

When there is an inner wound that has not been healed, it will be manifested in physical form by lashing out at others or trying to cut them down.

Don’t take things personally, stay in your own lane and thank every person or situation that comes against you as a reminder that you are in control of your life and how you want it to unfold.

A Simple Habit for Ending your day in Gratitude

A bedtime gratitude exercise that everybody has time for

In the famous book The Science of Getting Rich by Wallace D. Wattles, he explains that “many people who order their lives rightly in all other ways are kept in poverty by their lack of gratitude.”

Being grateful for what we do have makes us a channel for more good to flow into our life. When we disregard all of the things working in our favour, even if they are disguised as difficulties, we seem to continually attract more struggle into our lives.

A powerful way to close out your day is this incredibly simple exercise that not only opens your eyes to the good in your life, but also forces your subconscious mind to continue scanning for more things to be grateful for.

When we are grateful, we are not in fear.

Closing out your day in a thankful manner

Grab a journal or a blank piece of paper and write today’s date at the top of the page. Next, write the following sentence:

“My three favourite parts about today were…”

Even if you felt like you had the worst day in existence, they could be as simple as “I woke up and said hi to my spouse, my coffee machine worked another day, I was able to put food on my table once again”

Even on the most difficult of days, being grateful puts you in a place of more than enough, and in short time you will continue to be met with more situations in alignment with abundance.

It’s that simple, and when you wake up tomorrow you can watch this video to start you day the same way!

Stepping into the Flow of Life

Are you swimming with the current, or trying your best to fight against it?

Getting into the flow of life is a topic that some people will feel a great deal of resistance to. This idea is often perceived as “giving up” or “doing nothing”. While it may be easy to judge this concept, it goes much deeper than the idea of giving up and becoming stagnant.

I am sure you have heard the term “go with the flow”, this is something my mom used to repeat to me constantly as a child. A great deal of years later, I am finally figuring out what it means.

Getting into the flow of life, means surrendering to a force greater than yourself, and capitalizing on the opportunities that are in alignment with your values and desires along the way.

Clarity is Power.

Living a life of surrender, as Michael A. Singer calls it in his groundbreaking book The Surrender Experiment, means taking what life gives you and pursuing it to the greatest of your abilities. Oftentimes it is the ego that has a very difficult time with the idea of letting go of control.

The first step in living a life in which you align with what you want, and take action on the opportunities that are also in alignment with what you want, is offering clarity, on some level, about whatever life situation it is you would like.

The main reason for succumbing to “shiny object syndrome”, or feeling generally scattered or lost, is due to a lack of knowing which direction it is one wants to aim.

If you don’t know where you’re going, you might not like where you end up is a powerful and relative quote in the process of conspiring with a power beyond yourself to create a new life scenario.

Offer a Clear Intention of what you want.

Being able to offer the intention, then saying “I now turn this desire over to something greater than myself to help me create this in the fastest, most effortless way possible.”

Sometimes you will be given circumstances in which you feel like you are being given the short end of the stick, though this is often a sign that you need to learn, or let go of something.

For example, if someone says they want to become a millionaire, then can’t figure out why they get laid off from their current job position, maybe this is the perfect first step in learning how to increase their income in assisting them to fulfill their goal?

Many of these “coincidences” receive little to no credit, but when you live from a place of deep inner knowingness that life is always happening for you, not to you, you begin to harness a power that is much greater than yourself.

We often hear of the Law of Attraction, which states “that which is like unto itself is drawn”. As you continue to offer the intention of what it is that you want in your life, and continue to take action when you are given and opportunity, you will see over and over again that life is truly conspiring in your favour.

Are you Playing to Win?

An important question to ask yourself in pursuit of that which you desire, is whether you are playing to win or playing not to lose

One of the most paralyzing mistakes I have made along the way is getting caught up in something called “playing not to lose”. Playing not to lose is when you take all the actions that make you look busy, but really you are running on the hamster wheel and truly getting nowhere.

Playing not to lose, as T.Harv Eker notes, is like playing a game of hockey with six goalies. Playing not to lose is when you refuse to take risks because you do not trust that everything always works out. Playing not to lose is not allowing yourself to open up because you’ve become extremely comfortable in your current situation; even if you know it’s not sustainable.

Playing to win, on the other hand, is playing full out. Playing to win is allowing yourself to take risks, it’s allowing yourself to step into the unknown, it’s allowing yourself to do bold things while carrying a deep sense of knowing that every time you leap, a safety net will appear for you.

I once read a quote that read “it is hard to get an A while you’re scared of getting an F”.

This ties in perfectly to the theme of playing to win vs. playing not to lose. Ask yourself, at the end of the day, “what do I really have to be afraid of?”

The answer is nothing. The ego loves to come up with things be fearful of, reasons why we shouldn’t trust ourselves, reasons why we should avoid any and all potential pain while staying buried within our comfort zones.

As fun as it sounds, it is going to lead to a gnawing feeling of wanting to do more with your life, until you allow the inner voice to come through and do the thing that you really want to be doing.

Make today amazing, do something you wouldn’t normally do, open yourself to new and creative ways of living while trusting that every time you make a leap, you are fully and completely taken care of.
